The stitching is all intact and not fraying. This holster was captured by a US GI Soldier. It has his name and service number written no the front of the holster and on the under side of the retention strap: Pvt. During WWII there was no general issued shoulder holster for the P38 Pistol.
Individual units that required a shoulder holster would contract with local leather shops to make the holsters they needed. As a result there are a variety of shoulder holster designs that can be found from this time period.
This is one such example. This would be a welcomed addition to any WWII Collection or just to have a home for your captured P38 Pistol.
